Our sources and method
Donghua Fan is a fan site run by Spidermas. It has no ties to the studios or platforms it covers. This page explains where our information comes from, when it was checked and how we rate the series.
Our sources
Dates, episodes and staff
Release dates, episode counts, studios and staff come first from Bangumi (bgm.tv), the reference database for Chinese and Japanese animation. We cross-check them with the platforms' official pages (Tencent Video, Bilibili, iQIYI, Youku) and, for novels, with publishing platforms such as Qidian.
Where to watch in France
Legal offers in France are checked title by title on JustWatch France. Chinese platforms that stream internationally, often missing from JustWatch, are listed separately, with no guarantee of French subtitles.
French editions
Manhua and novels published in France are checked in the catalogue of the Bibliothèque nationale de France, based on legal deposit: publisher, number of volumes and release dates.
Release calendar
Watch orders and the calendar come from each season's Bangumi entry. The weekly grid is built from episode dates, and it is hidden when the check is more than three weeks old.
Images
Posters, covers and portraits are official visuals taken from Bangumi and AniList entries and used for illustration. Their rights belong to the studios, publishers and platforms.
Texts and reviews
Synopses, analyses and reviews are written for the site, based on the works themselves and the sources above. Reviews and ratings reflect Spidermas's opinion.

Our principles
Verifiable information
We only publish a date, a figure or an adaptation if it comes from a reliable source. When something is not confirmed, we say so, or we leave it out: for example, we do not map seasons to novel chapters without a solid source.
Facts kept apart from opinions
Guides separate information (synopsis, world, release) from the "My review" section, signed by Spidermas, which holds the review and the rating.
Affiliate links disclosed
Some Amazon links are affiliate links: the site earns a small commission on purchases at no extra cost to you. They are always disclosed, and they never influence reviews or ratings.

How I rate donghua
Every guide with a review carries a rating by Spidermas, on four criteria scored from 0 to 5 in half points. The overall score is the average of the scored criteria.
- Animation
- Technical quality and art direction: fluidity, fight choreography, backgrounds, consistency of style from one season to the next.
- Story
- The story as the series tells it: pacing, characters, tension, quality of the writing.
- Faithfulness
- Respect for the source work (novel, manhua): plot, characters, tone. This criterion is not scored for original works and free retellings of a myth, such as Ne Zha 2.
- Accessibility
- How easy it is for a newcomer: length, complexity of the world, need to know the source, availability in France.
Benchmarks: 5 = exceptional, 4 = very good, 3 = decent, 2 = disappointing, 1 = avoid. A rating is reviewed when a new season changes things, and the date of the last update is shown above.
