Donghua to read in French
Behind most donghua there is a web novel or a manhua. Very few are translated into French, but the list grows every year. Here are all the French editions of the works in our catalogue, with their publisher, number of volumes out and status.

Manhua in French
Manhua are Chinese comics. In France they are published in manga format, often in colour, by specialist publishers such as Nazca or Mahô, and increasingly by major houses such as Kana.

Chinese web novels are very long and rarely translated. The first to reach French are Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's danmei novels, published by MxM Bookmark.

What about the others?
The big cultivation novels, such as Renegade Immortal, Perfect World or Lord of Mysteries, do not have a French edition yet. Some exist in English, from Yen Press or Seven Seas for example. We update this page with every new publisher announcement.

Can I read Mo Dao Zu Shi or Heaven Official's Blessing as a French novel?
Yes. MxM Bookmark publishes the Mo Dao Zu Shi novel, Le Grand Maître de la cultivation démoniaque, completed in five volumes, and the Heaven Official's Blessing novel, La Bénédiction des cieux, still ongoing.
Why are so few Chinese novels translated?
Chinese web novels often run to several thousand chapters, which means dozens of volumes to translate. French publishers therefore prefer manhua, which are shorter and easier to sell, or tighter novels such as Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's.
Is this information up to date?
We check editions in the catalogue of the Bibliothèque nationale de France, which receives a copy of every book published, and with the publishers. Legal deposit lags a few months behind, so the number of volumes shown is sometimes a minimum.
