Martial Peak

A humble sect sweeper on the road to the peak of martial arts

Synopsis

Yang Kai is a trial disciple of the Lingxiao Pavilion, so untalented that he has been handed a broom. If he does not make progress within three years, he will be expelled from the sect. Everything changes the day he finds a mysterious black book with no writing in it.

The book opens the way to forgotten techniques, starting with an unyielding body that grows stronger through hardship. Stubborn and unable to give up, Yang Kai faces trial after trial, sect rivalries and dangers, with a single goal: to reach the peak of the martial path.

The series adapts Mo Mo's sprawling novel, published on Qidian from 2012 to 2021. Animated in 3D by Soda Bear Animation for Tencent Video, its first 48-episode season aired from December 2024 to May 2025.

World

The story begins in the Lingxiao Pavilion, a small sect in a world ruled by martial arts, then expands to ever larger regions, continents and realms. Strength decides everything: sects fight over resources, techniques and promising disciples.

Power system

Practitioners refine their body and energy to break through successive power realms. Yang Kai's black book gives him access to rare arts, such as his unyielding body, which grows through pain and combat.

Reception & popularity

Martial Peak was awaited by millions of readers of the novel and the manhua, one of the longest ever published. The donghua was praised for its brisk pace and its fights, although some viewers found it less polished than Tencent's best 3D productions.

My take

Martial Peak is classic xuanhuan, carried by a hero who starts from nothing and fights for every inch he gains. The donghua gets straight to the point: the humiliations, comebacks and power-ups that made the manhua a hit are all there.

That is also its limit: the story follows very familiar patterns, and the side characters are thin. But for a first season the pace is good, and Yang Kai, stubborn and a little cheeky, is fun to follow.

Who is it for?Worth watching if you like underdog heroes, power progression and donghua such as Battle Through the Heavens or Martial Universe.
