逆天邪神
Against the Gods
Reborn crippled, heir to an evil god, and ready to defy the heavens
Synopsis
Hunted for the Sky Poison Pearl, the young physician Yun Che would rather leap from a cliff than surrender it. He opens his eyes in the body of a namesake in Floating Cloud City, his profound veins broken and married to the city's greatest prodigy.
Thanks to the Pearl and the Evil God's legacy, the young man everyone dismissed as useless begins to overturn the balance of power, from his own family to the mightiest sects of the Blue Wind Empire.
Based on Mars Gravity's novel, iQIYI's 3D donghua began on 23 September 2023. An 82-episode annual series directed by Peng Fei took over on 16 April 2026.
World
The story begins in the Blue Wind Empire, one of the minor kingdoms of a continent dominated by great sects and holy lands. Beyond lie divine realms that reveal themselves only as Yun Che grows stronger.
Power system
A cultivator's strength depends on their profound veins (玄脉), which channel profound energy. The Evil God's unique veins let Yun Che break through barriers and chain techniques no one else could endure.
Reception & popularity
One of the most widely read Chinese xuanhuan novels, Against the Gods saw its 3D adaptation heavily scrutinised. The 2026 annual series made the April top 10 of donghua, despite debate over its delays and the story's harem element.
My take
Against the Gods fully embraces what it is: a gleeful revenge story, a hero who forgives nothing and unrestrained power growth. When the story takes off, it is one of the most entertaining xuanhuan series in the catalogue.
The 3D drew criticism early on and the harem element won't suit everyone. The 2026 annual series fixes some of the flaws, but you have to accept a hero who is not always likeable.
Who is it for?Watch it if you enjoy revenge stories, ambiguous heroes and spectacular power-ups.
