Comedy donghua: when cultivation gets funny

Donghua can laugh at itself too. Many series twist cultivation clichés with cowardly, lazy or far too powerful heroes, and humour built on the gap between the world's seriousness and the character's attitude.

The Daily Life of the Immortal King follows an overpowered high schooler who just wants to be normal; A Will Eternal stars a hero terrified of death; The Outcast and The Legend of Luo Xiaohei mix humour and action with lots of heart.
