Historical donghua: Chinese dynasties on screen

Historical donghua draw on the great periods of Chinese history: the Qin unification, the fall of the Sui, imperial courts and their intrigues. They often mix real figures with invented heroes and take liberties with the facts to serve the adventure.

Qin's Moon remains the genre's benchmark, with Ying Zheng, Zhang Liang and the Hundred Schools of Thought. Blades of the Guardians dives into the revolts of the late Sui. These series are a good gateway to the history of ancient China.
