Founded in Shanghai in 1998, Foch Films (福煦影视) kicked off the wave of web-novel adaptations with Battle Through the Heavens in 2017. Today it animates Perfect World and Against the Gods.
History
The company was founded in 1998 as Shanghai Huiyue Culture & Art, then took the name Foch (福煦) in 2006. It first produced 2D and 3D cartoons, puppet films and Flash animation.
It then turned to web-novel adaptations: The Way of Choices (择天记, 2015), Versatile Mage (全职法师, 2016), then in 2017 the first season of Battle Through the Heavens (斗破苍穹) for Tencent, a key step in the rise of 3D donghua.
Since then Foch has produced one long series after another: Stellar Transformations (星辰变), The Great Ruler (大主宰, 2019), Perfect World (完美世界) since 2021 and Against the Gods (逆天邪神) since 2023 for iQIYI.
Signature
Foch specialises in 3D xuanhuan: heroes climbing power levels, effects-heavy fights and very long series. Its style has grown more refined over the years, and Perfect World shows it at its best.
