Founded in Chongqing in 2014, Colored Pencil Animation (彩色铅笔动画) works with Japanese animation methods. It made The King's Avatar and Blades of the Guardians.

History

Chongqing Colored Pencil Animation Design was founded in May 2014 in Chongqing's Yuzhong district. From the start, the studio adopted the organisation of Japanese 2D animation and devoted itself to original Chinese works.

A year after its creation it already had some forty key animators. It later opened a subsidiary in Japan, Colored Pencil Animation Japan.

It made the film The King's Avatar: For the Glory (2019), then took over seasons 2 and 3 of the series. In 2023 it adapted Blades of the Guardians, Xu Xianzhe's wuxia manhua.

Signature

Colored Pencil champions dynamic 2D, with sharp fights and anime-inspired staging. The studio can move from esports to realistic wuxia with the same energy.
