Chinese legends in 3D

Founded in Beijing in 2013 by Wang Wei, creator of Tudou, Light Chaser Animation (追光动画) makes 3D animated films drawn from Chinese legends and history.

History

After leaving Tudou, the video site he had founded, Wang Wei created Light Chaser Animation in March 2013, aiming to make world-class Chinese animated films.

The studio released its first film, Little Door Gods (小门神), in 2016, then Cats and Peachtopia (阿唐奇遇) in 2018. Success came in 2019 with White Snake, followed by Green Snake (2021) and White Snake: Afloat (2024).

Alongside, it launched the New Gods series, revisiting the gods of the Investiture of the Gods, with Nezha Reborn (2021) and Yang Jian (2022). In 2023, Chang'an became its biggest hit.

Signature

Light Chaser bets on highly polished 3D, a steady output of one or two films a year, and stories drawn from Chinese legend, mythology and poetry. Wang Wei writes the scripts himself under pen names.
