Based in Beijing and Chongqing, B.CMAY Pictures (视美精典, or 视美影业) is one of China's best 2D studios. It made Mo Dao Zu Shi and the first season of The King's Avatar.

History

The group was born in Chongqing, with Chongqing Shimei Animation Art (重庆视美动画艺术), founded in November 2005 to develop animation and youth culture. Its Beijing branch, Beijing B.CMAY Pictures, focuses on original creation.

The studio brings together nearly 300 professionals and made its name with series such as Dan Zhu Chuan Shuo (弹珠传说), Shen Po (神魄) and Long Tu Zhan Dui (龙图战队), before moving on to big web adaptations.

In 2017 it made the first season of The King's Avatar, then in 2018 Mo Dao Zu Shi, co-produced with Tencent. A Will Eternal and Lord of Mysteries followed. The studio has strategic partnerships with Tencent and iQIYI and has opened branches in Hangzhou and Xi'an.

Signature

B.CMAY Pictures is known for refined 2D: fine lines, soft colours, close attention to expressions. The studio excels at emotionally charged stories and hit-novel worlds, with particular care for the characters.
