Martial Peak — Mo Mo's novel (6,009 chapters)
At a glance6,009 chapters · completed

Martial Peak began as a web novel by Mo Mo (莫默), published on Qidian from 17 October 2012 to 25 September 2021. Over almost nine years it grew to 6,009 chapters and more than 18 million Chinese characters.
Origins and publication
Mo Mo, a Qidian author with China Literature, wrote Martial Peak at the daily pace of web fiction. The novel tells Yang Kai's entire rise, from the sweeper of the Lingxiao Pavilion to the highest peaks of the martial path, across ever larger worlds.
How it differs from the donghua
The novel is huge, and the donghua only adapts its very beginning. It also takes a few liberties: the novel's wordless black book appears in the animation as a mysterious stone pillow. The novel goes into far more detail about techniques, power realms and its many side characters.
Reception and success
Martial Peak became a web xuanhuan classic, as much for its length as for its author's consistency. Abroad it is best known through the manhua, whose success led many readers to the novel.
Trivia
- The novel runs to more than 18 million characters, dozens of times the length of a typical novel.
- It was published without any major break for almost nine years.
My take
A novel for readers with stamina: the opening is effective, but the story sometimes repeats itself over the long run. It remains the most complete version of Yang Kai's adventure.
Who is it for?For xuanhuan readers who love very long sagas. There is no official French translation.
— Spidermas, for Donghua Fan
