Qidian's raging snail

Born in 1987 in Linhai, Zhejiang, Wang Tai, known as Mad Snail, is the author of Tales of Demons and Gods, one of the longest-running donghua series.

Career

A student at Shanghai's Donghua University (class of 2006), Wang Tai took up writing "to give it a try" during his studies. He never stopped.

Under contract with Qidian, he began with online-game novels such as Wang You Zhi Lian Ji Zhuan Jia (网游之练级专家) and Tian Yu Shen Qi (天域神器), before moving to xuanhuan with Wu Shang Long Mai (无上龙脉), Jiu Xing Tian Chen Jue (九星天辰诀), then Tales of Demons and Gods (妖神记) and Xing Wu Shen Jue (星武神诀).

He was ranked among the "ten great game-novel authors" and the "hundred great authors" in the awards celebrating twenty years of online literature.

Style and themes

Mad Snail loves revenge and second-chance plots: in Tales of Demons and Gods, Nie Li returns to his teenage body to prevent his city's fall. His writing is fast, full of fights and strategy, with a real sense of twists inherited from game novels.

Donghua Fan's take

Mad Snail lacks the depth of the great masters, but he knows how to sustain a story. Tales of Demons and Gods remains an excellent second-chance tale.
