Dragon Prince Yuan — Dr. Daji's manhua
At a glance20 volumes · completed
Dragon Prince Yuan was adapted into a manhua by Dr. Daji (Dr.大吉) for Zhiyin Manke magazine (知音漫客). The series began in December 2017 and ended in November 2024.
Origins and publication
The manhua was published both in the print magazine, until 2021, and on many online platforms, including Tencent Animation, Bilibili Comics and Kuaikan. It was collected in volumes, with 20 out by the end of 2023.
How it differs from the donghua
The manhua faithfully follows the novel, with very detailed art and elegantly styled characters. It was published long before the donghua and covers far more of the story than the first animated season.
Reception and success
The manhua was one of Zhiyin Manke's flagship titles and did a lot to make the novel known outside China. Its art is often named among the most polished of Tian Can Tu Dou's adaptations.
Trivia
- The manhua started only three months after the novel.
- It ran for almost seven years.
My take
A beautiful adaptation with polished art that lets you read the whole story. The best option if you do not want to wait for more of the donghua.
Who is it for?For fans of the animated series and lovers of good-looking cultivation manhua.
