The Demon Hunter — the manhua
At a glanceover 11 volumes

Cang Yuan Tu was also adapted into a full-colour manhua drawn by HeHe and produced by Angel Culture (天使文化), publisher of the novel's volumes. With more than 320 chapters, it has produced 11 collected volumes from Hunan Fine Arts since September 2020.
Origins and publication
The manhua started shortly after the novel and follows Meng Chuan from Mirror Lake Academy. It presents the world of the three great dynasties and five great families, and the story of Meng Chuan and Liu Qiyue, who grow up together before the demon invasion upends their lives. HeHe, who also drew the A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality manhua, brings clear, elegant art.
How it differs from the donghua
The manhua predates the donghua by almost three years and follows the novel closely. Its brighter style stands apart from the donghua's ink aesthetic. It also gets further into the story than the animated series, letting fans discover what happens next at their own pace.
Reception and success
The manhua was well received, particularly for its art. It remains less known than the donghua but is appreciated by fans who want to know what happens before the animated series gets there.

My take
A polished, pleasant manhua that captures the novel's clarity well. It does not try to compete with the donghua's beauty, but it tells the story effectively and goes further. I recommend it to fans who want what comes next without waiting.
