Scissor Seven — He Xiaofeng's 4-volume manhua

In 2021, Beijing United Publishing released a four-volume manhua version of Scissor Seven by He Xiaofeng, the series' creator. It retells the first season's missions in comic form.

Origins and publication

Scissor Seven is an original creation for animation: the manhua is not the source of the series but its extension on paper. It features Wu Liuqi's failed jobs, the rock-singing dog Wang Feng, the mysterious old fruit seller and the beautiful Meihua Shisan.

Volume covers

All 4 volumes of the print edition.

  • Scissor Seven — He Xiaofeng's 4-volume manhua — cover of volume 1Vol. 1

How it differs from the donghua

The manhua closely follows season 1, split into missions. It adds production sketches and lets you reread at your own pace gags that pass very quickly on screen.

Reception and success

The volumes were marketed in China as a "guoman masterpiece", echoing the series' international success, broadcast in more than 190 countries and regions.

Trivia

  • The first volume includes production sketches from the series.
  • Each cover highlights a different character, from Wu Liuqi to Meihua Shisan.

My take

A lovely item for fans, letting you enjoy the first season's humour at your own pace. It adds no new story, but He Xiaofeng's art keeps all the series' energy.

Who is it for?For Scissor Seven fans and manhua collectors.
