Power system
The power levels of Lord of Mysteries
In Lord of Mysteries, supernatural beings, the Beyonders, follow one of twenty-two pathways. Each pathway has ten Sequences, from 9, the weakest, to 0, that of a god. Here is the Seer pathway, Klein Moretti's.
Low Sequences
- 1Seer占卜家zhān bǔ jiā
Sequence 9
Klein's starting point: divination, tarot, pendulum and prophetic dreams.
- 2Clown小丑xiǎo chǒu
Sequence 8
The Clown gains agility and hides their emotions behind a mask.
- 3Magician魔术师mó shù shī
Sequence 7
The Magician masters sleight of hand: flames, paper-figurine substitutes, escapes.
Mid Sequences
- 4Faceless无面人wú miàn rén
Sequence 6
The Faceless can change appearance at will and take on other people's identities.

Sequence 5
They turn living beings into puppets controlled from afar through spirit threads.
Demigods (saints)

Sequence 4
The first demigod rank. The Beyonder transcends the human condition and manipulates the spirit world.

Sequence 3
They can summon projections drawn from the past, even from their own history, to fight alongside them.
Angels

Sequence 2
The first angel rank: they work true miracles, as long as they pay the price.

Sequence 1
A high-ranking angel on the threshold of godhood, able to alter reality itself.
God
- 10The Fool愚者yú zhě
Sequence 0
Sequence 0, that of a true god. It is the title Klein takes on over the novel, from the castle above the grey fog.
How to advance
A Beyonder advances by drinking a potion, then "acting" out the role of their Sequence to digest its power: the Seer must perform divinations, the Clown must play the part. Without this method, they risk losing control and becoming a monster. Each new potion requires ever rarer supernatural ingredients.
In the donghua
The 2025 donghua covers the beginning of the novel: Klein discovers the Seer pathway and starts climbing the low Sequences.
