A barber on Xiaoji Island and a cut-price assassin, Wu Liuqi has never completed a single job. Fished out of the sea with no memories, he does not know who he was before, or why he fights so well.
Personality
Naive, carefree and disarmingly kind, Wu Liuqi softens toward his targets instead of killing them. He has a big heart and a real sense of honour, even in the most absurd situations.
Powers & abilities
He fights with a pair of scissors and can disguise himself as anything, from an object to another person. As his memory returns, he regains far more fearsome techniques, including the Thousand-Blade Sword.
History
Taken in by Ji Dabao, who names him after his barbershop, he chains failed missions on Xiaoji Island. Little by little, memories resurface and reveal that he was once an elite assassin of the Kingdom of Xuanwu, which catches up with him in later seasons.
Relationships
Ji Dabao is his agent, roommate and almost family. Meihua Shisan, an assassin met on a job, becomes very dear to him. Xiaofei, the island's little boy, sees him as a big brother.
Key moments
- His first failed jobs, where he always ends up helping his target.
- His encounters with Meihua Shisan.
- The return of his memories tied to the Kingdom of Xuanwu.
In the adaptations
In the Chinese version he is voiced by He Xiaofeng himself, the series' creator. The four-volume manhua retells his first missions.
Did you know?
- His name reads "five-six-seven", his shop's number.
- His spiky hairstyle has become the series' emblem.
Our take
Wu Liuqi is an irresistible hero, funny and touching, whose kindness contrasts with his trade. Watching him uncover his past gives Scissor Seven all its depth.
